Reba McEntire's divorce from music mogul finalized

Las Vegas country music fans may be interested to learn that Reba McEntire announced via social media that her divorce from her longtime husband and manager was finalized. In her Facebook post, she stated that the divorce was final on Oct. 28.

The former couple reportedly announced that they were separating back in August, though a source indicated that they had actually separated months before the announcement was made. It was not known at the time that announcement was made if the former couple intended to actually divorce. In her Facebook post, McEntire told her fans that she and her ex-husband were friends. They have one son together.

McEntire became popular in the 1980s and has sold more than 85 million records. She also starred in her own sitcom called "Reba," which ended its run in 2007. Her ex-husband represents a number of other major singers and musicians including Blake Shelton. The specifics of the divorce were not divulged.

Ending a long marriage can be extremely difficult, especially if there are children involved or the couple has obtained a number of marital assets that must be divided. In some cases, couples can amicably go through the divorce process with the help of mediation. If the divorce is not amicable, an attorney may potentially help a spouse determine which assets are separate and which assets are marital. If the spouse is worried that the other party may attempt to hide assets, the attorney may have a team assist with documentation to ensure that all of the assets are accounted for. Additionally, the attorney may employ real estate appraisers to establish the value of owned property.
